Lots to catch up on!

Yes, I bailed on my own photo challenge. I am slightly dissapointed in myself, but more irritated that I thought November was a good time to do it. I have some handmade Christmas gifts I'm trying to finish and I recently took on a BIG project that I can't share yet. :)  So I will let the photo challenge go and focus on having a great holiday season and making it great for others.

That said... We had a great "Thanksgiving". I had to work Thanksgiving night, so dinner wasn't happening for us that day. So while hubby worked Wednesday the kids and I made dinner. And it took all day! I'm so glad they were out of school and home with me. We had alot of fun.

We made deviled eggs, played with the turkey, 2 awesome pumpkin pies, and Blake got to pull the organ bag out. lol

Kenzie buttered up the bird, and the girls cleaned the deviled egg filling bowl. We had a blast inspecting the turkey's organs. It was a good little lesson for the kids. Blake DID NOT eat the heart! He was pretty grossed out by it actually, just goes to show what a camera hog this kid is.

Through the madness of the cooking on Wednesday, I also managed to get my sock monkeys mailed off for Craft Hope's Project 15.

On the left is the knit monkey pattern I found on the Patton website. He was very easy to make, just took awhile. I think I was just over the making of the monkeys by the time he was done. And my finished gaggle of monkeys! 8 in all sent to little ones in TX. Love Craft Hope! Can't wait to see what projects are in store for the coming year.

And last (I think) but not least we decorated for Christmas yesterday! I love decorating. The kids are always so excited and it's a welcome change to our home.

the stockings were hung... using a stocking hanger that I made last year using a cabinet door and some knobs. I also made the stockings last year as part of UCreate's Create with Me. I made the reindeer sign a few weeks ago and added the kid's thumbprint reindeer. I have to remember to put the date on the back of this at some point. Our advent calendar is done, YAY! Olivia decorated her gingerbread man for school this evening using candy sprinkles. I'm sure her teacher will love that! lol

Ok i'm off to cut fabric for November's BOM, maybe knit a little on my scarf (which will be a christmas gift for olivia), and read before bed. Whew reliving the last few days has kinda worn me out!

So I called WGU today and got some moe information about restarting school. Now I just have to initiate the admission process and I'll be off to a masters education :)

day 13 and start of advent

Day 13- myself with 13 (25) things.

That is the beginning of our advent calendar. A better picture...

I got a box of tins in various sizes at a yard sale for $3 earlier this year. I had no idea what I was gonna do with them but I knew I was getting a steal. I used 25 for this project and still have at least that many left.

I randomly placed the different sizes on a bulletin board. I first tried to attach them using push pins. It held the tin in place, but came right off the board when I took the lid off. So I switched to the good ole reliable hot glue gun. Worked like a charm! With my day off this week we will decorate with fabric/patterned paper/embellishments. I'm really looking forward to filling these little tins up for the kids this december.

Yup that's what I got... The sun wasn't out today anyway, and the kids and I were out to dinner when it 'went down'. So I tried and this is what i got. :(  So instead I took some other pics today :)

Day 11

Something blue...

What better subject than the street sign and a beautiful blue sky behind it? :)  It's a gorgeous day which is surprising since I woke up to the heat kicking on this morning. Gotta love this time of year.

days 9 & 10

Day 9- Someone you love.  Quick snapshot on my way to work, I had to drop them off at church. I usually take my picture of the day before I go to bed after work but nobody I love was home lol  So it had to wait until I got up then I forgot until I was walking out the door. But nevertheless, these are 2 cute little people I love. :)

Day 10- Today was childhood memories. My grandpa gave me this little mouse over the weekend and it means alot to me. She is now sitting on the entertainment center where I can see her everyday. My late grandmother made this when I was a kid. It always sat on a little bench in front of their tv. I miss her alot and having this makes me feel like I have a piece of her with me. It also makes me really happy to think about getting my craftiness from her.

I went out and had a shopping day all for myself today. I had a few errands to run anyway so i decided to make it fun :)

Today's photo topic is clouds, and what a gorgeous day it is for that topic NOT! lol As I drove home from work I didn't think I was going to be able to get a shot. The sky was just dark, no clouds to see. Just outside of town I pulled over to get this shot. I think it captures the gloominess of the day.

So while perusing Pinterest I found this little challenge. Since today is the first of the month I'm just gonna jump right in and give it a go. Because of the way that I work, i will take my photos daily, but may have to upload a few days worth at a time. Here goes nothing!
